Muraabit’s Rewards

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever dies guarding the borders of Islam for the sake of Allah will be kept safe from the greater terror, his provision and breeze will be brought from Paradise, and the reward of the Muraabit will continue until Allah resurrects him.” [Tabaraani.  Narrated with a Sahih Isnaad from Abu Dardaa]

The Shaheed is saved from the greater terror, i.e., the terror of the Day of Resurrection. Similar to the case of the Shaheed (martyr) is that of the Muraabit (one who guards the borders of Islam for the sake of Allah).

If the Muraabit dies whilst he is guarding the borders of Islam, Allah will keep him safe from experiencing any fear on the Day of Judgement. His food and a breeze for him will come from Paradise. And he will continue to be rewarded for guarding the frontiers until the Day of Judgement. In his unique case, he will not stop accruing reward even when all deeds come to an end with death.

This is the reward of the Muraabit, even if he were to die a natural death whilst guarding the borders, and not be killed by the enemy.
