Hadith Explanation

She Chooses Her Entrance

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If a woman prays her five daily prayers, guards her honour and chastity, and obeys her husband, then she may enter Jannah through whichever one of its entrances she chooses.” [Sahih Ibn Hibban]

This hadith informs women of the great position and status that they have in Islam. Compared to someone else’s children what do your children have to do to earn your favours? Very little! You wish to reward them highly for the slightest of achievements. This is Allah’s state of affairs with us. The Shariah has promised women Jannah in exchange for few and easy deeds: They should keep away from prohibited deeds, pray regularly, and keep their husbands happy by caring for and obeying them. Voila: She may enter Jannah through whichever of its doors she chooses.

Take care not to miss any of your prayers. Pray them in their proper times. If Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has blessed you with a husband, he is your ticket to Jannah. Serve him with love. Take care of his needs. Anything you do for him - whether it is washing his clothes, cooking for him, taking care of his children, talking respectfully and affectionately to him, adorning yourself for him – stockpiles mountains of Hasanaat for you. There is no work you can do outside the home that will earn you the same amount of reward for the Akhirah. So remember Allah’s rights on you (prayer, fasting, Zakat) and obey your husband in all matters that do not go against the Shariah. It is this simple to make a home for yourself in the place of everlasting comfort and happiness.
