Hadith Explanation
Trimming one’s Moustache
Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Be different from the Zoroastrians: grow your beards and trim your moustaches.” [Sahih Bukhari]
Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) also said: “He who does not trim his moustache is not one of us.” [Tirmidhi]
Thus beards, and not moustaches, should be the hallmark of Muslim men. This is a part of their identity as Muslims that they should take pride in. When a person goes to a well known educational institute or works for a prestigious company they are eager to announce it to the world; not just verbally but by using stickers, clothing and anything else that carries its logo. Then shouldn’t a Muslim be most eager to display who he/she works for? Isn’t Allah Most High the most amazing and powerful of bosses?
