Yah-dikumullah - Response to Yar-hamukallah

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If anyone of you sneezes, he should say ‘Alhamdu-lillah’ (Praise be to Allah), and his (Muslim) brother or companion should say to him ‘Yar-hamukallah’ (May Allah bestow His Mercy on you). When the latter says ‘Yar-hamukallah’, the former should say, ‘Yah-dikumullah wa Yuslih baalakum’ (May Allah give you guidance and improve your condition).” [Sahih Bukhari]

A Muslim is full of good wishes for his brothers and sisters in Islam. He/She is always making Dua for them, wishing for their happiness, wishing for increase in their Eeman and pure good deeds, and wishing for them to be a source of guidance for others.

Sneezing is just another occasion for us to remember Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) and ask for goodness for ourselves and others.
