I'd Like Allah's Mercy on the Day of Judgement
A bedouin asked the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam): “I'd like Allah to bestow His mercy on me.” The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) replied: “If you have mercy on yourself and on others, Allah will grant you mercy on the Day of Judgment.” [Related by Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal]
If my child harms himself or herself it will hurt not only them but me too, because of my love for them.
Allah’s love for His creatures is unimaginably more than our love for our children.
And I am also one of Allah’s creatures.
So whether I hurt myself or others, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will not be made happy by it. When I go against Allah’s recommendations I hurt myself. Sins hurt me. Who would know better than my Maker?
I need to be merciful to all if in exchange I would like Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) to reward me with His Mercy on the Day of Judgement.
